Google is doing some housekeeping and yesterday, Larry Page announced a shift in the structure in a bid to tidy up priorities. Basically, Alphabet is the new parent company heading all the subsidiaries including Google. Google is still Google, except that most non-internet related products are now under Alphabet as a whole entity with individual CEOs.

Google is a behemoth and like this list shows, has a product for almost every alphabet. This streamlining allows for better management and focus on the ambitious projects Google is so fond of undertaking. This announcement alone, shot Google’s shares or Alphabet’s rather, up by 7%.

It is a welcome development and it’s exciting to see Google continuously make giant strides to the advancement of technology. Larry Page and his co-founder, Sergey Brin will serve as the CEO and President respectively of Alphabet Inc.; while, Google’s current vice president of products Sundar Pichai will be heading Google.
