Google introduced a new HTML5 editor called “Google Web Designer” to create engaging, interactive HTML5-based ads that includes advanced features like video, audio, or other elements that encourage viewers to interact and engage with its content. Google Web Designer creates rich media ads that offer more ways to involve any target audience. The ads can expand, float, peel down, etc.
Cregital was invited alongside other creative agencies, designers and creative folk to the Google Web Designer introduction and training workshop at the Southern Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The new HTML editor offers a Graphical User Interface (GUI) with common design tools, such as a Text tool that integrates with Google Web Fonts, a Shapes tool, Pen tool, and 3D tools. The advertising feature set is more complete with components to add Google Maps, YouTube videos and more, as well as automatically including the tracking code events for DoubleClick and AdMob.
The session started with breakfast after which, we had two Google evangelists from Israel explain the functionality, features and benefits of HTML 5 built adverts:-
Ability to run across any screen size
More engagement with audience
Smooth animation transition across all screen sizes on like flash built ads
Endless possibility to bringing ideas to life.
At the end of the session, we had a networking breakout session where designers and developers met to discuss creative measures to improve web adverts.
In the final session we were divided into 10 groups to build a demo ads with Google Web Designer after which each group showcased what they built. At the end of the final session, we were served lunch and mingled amongst ourselves.
