Bringing people together with innovation

SMW Lagos has grown to become the biggest digital media event for business leaders, global thinkers, entrepreneurs and technologists in Africa. The 6th edition of the conference promised to uncover how technology helps people find their individuality while also fostering community, thereby transforming the world into a global village. As a result of an ongoing partnership, Cregital was approached for the branding, user interface and web design of the 2018 edition with a theme in mind; Closer.

A conscious effort towards clarity

We were electrified by the chance to deliver a consistent identity from print to digital media and website. While putting pen to paper, we realized the importance of communicating togetherness through visual simplicity. After a series of brainstorming, we documented three design directions which were put together in a presentation before a final identity was reviewed and deliberated upon.

Invested in building adaptive identities

The team at SMW Lagos increasingly craved for a new experience for 2018 event, we understood their promise to drive innovation, improve consumer experiences and bring people together. We developed a brand story using arrows exemplify people of different backgrounds coming together to discuss the most productive ways to harness innovation.

Connecting the unconnected

We focused on creating a celebratory visual experience that evokes creativity, joy and togetherness across all brand assets to represent a community that fosters collaboration between businesses and individuals. The layout adopted for the new website was clear and directional, enabling the large community of attendees view conference schedules, speakers, brand partners and sponsors directly on their mobile and desktop devices.

Good numbers drive better actions

Preliminary event stats show the event recorded over 23,000 attendees across the week with a whooping 646million social impressions. There were a total of 212 event sessions and masterclasses. Over 400 speakers hosted panel discussions that involved Entrepreneurs, Tech Influencers, Bloggers, Students, Creatives, Photographers and Media Agencies, making the 2018 edition of SMW Lagos the biggest edition to date.
